Ryan Smith
Founder & Director of 5 Point Acupuncture,
Tri-State College of Acupuncture
USA
Ryan Smith(Biography)
The founder and director of 5 Point Acupuncture, Ryan Smith wields hybrid capabilities. He combines this ancient healing technique with leading-edge trigger point dry needling to precisely treat each malady—from complex internal dysfunctions to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Like all acupuncturists, Ryan’s approach is holistic. Patients’ pain and discomfort aren’t the problem; they’re symptoms of an imbalanced chi. Once Ryan rebalances the energetic systems—with hair-thin needles and/or Chinese herbs—his patients are restored, and their pain relieved. Embracing the detective work of a given ailment, Ryan uncovers its hidden root. Honing in on both the right acupoint(s) and the more elusive trigger points, Ryan uses cross fiber palpation along each tendinomuscular meridian. The result is precise, powerful healing in three or four potent sessions. (Chronic conditions may require more visits.) During his clinical training, Ryan became particularly interested in the signs and symptoms associated with cancer. Today, Ryan is the Lead Acupuncturist at the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU, where he alleviates the aftereffects of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. As an Acupuncture Clinical Practice Instructor at the Tristate College of Acupuncture (TSCA), Ryan demonstrates advanced techniques and lectures on traditional Chinese medical theory and treatment strategies. He is also a Clinical Supervisor in TSCA’s high volume clinic. Ryan is currently developing an Oncology Acupuncture Externship Program at the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center, open to qualified licensed acupuncturists who have an interest in integrative medicine, research development, and advancing standards of acupuncture practice. A graduate of the Tri-State College of Acupuncture (TSCA), Ryan earned a Clinical Masters of Science in Acupuncture. He has received certificates in Oncology Acupuncture from memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City, and he founded 5 Point Acupuncture six years ago, originally under the name Ryan Smith Acupuncture.
